From Office Waste to Wildlife Welfare

In a meaningful act of sustainability and community support, Remington Technology, through its specialist division Remington Digital Solutions, has donated 400 kilograms of shredded paper to Port Moresby Nature Park to assist with the care of Papua New Guinea’s native animals.

The shredded paper, recycled from the secure destruction of physical documents after digitisation, is far from waste. It will be used as bedding, nesting material, and insulation in the Park’s animal enclosures, offering comfort and enrichment for wildlife.

“We are proud to partner with and support Port Moresby Nature Park in its mission to protect and care for PNG’s incredible native species,” said Jorge. V. Tusell, General Manager of Remington Digital Solutions. “At Remington, we don’t just scan and digitise, we take sustainability seriously. Once documents are turned into e-files, we securely shred the paper and find meaningful ways to repurpose it. Donating it to organisations like Nature Park is just one way we make a difference.”

This initiative reflects how environmentally responsible business practices can extend beyond the office, directly supporting local conservation efforts and strengthening partnerships with community-focused organisations.

“It may seem small, but donations like this go a long way,” said Marissa Pagere, Commercial Operations Manager at the Port Moresby Nature Park. “The shredded paper will be used as substrate or bedding foundation essential for the care of our wildlife. It will be used as bedding for live foodstock by promoting a healthy environment to raise our rats that would feed animals in our collection such as reptiles and birds of prey. In addition, it will also be used as bedding for ground dwelling animals in our care such as echidnas and bandicoots during their rehabilitation process. We’re incredibly grateful for Remington’s thoughtful contribution.”

This donation is part of Remington’s wider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, which focuses on sustainability, community development, and backing causes that create real, lasting impact.

By giving paper a second life, Remington Technology shows that even everyday by-products can have purpose, supporting wildlife, conservation, and community all at once.
